Refilling of the Reservoir Has Begun!
Black River Falls Municipal Utilities began refilling the reservoir on Monday, March 26th, 2012.
The Reservoir above the Black River Falls Dam started refilling on Monday, March 26th, 2012, according to Jerry Ewert, General Manager of the Utilities. In September of 2009 the process of lowering the reservoir began for the reconstruction of the Dam in Black River Falls. The reconstruction project achieved substantial completion on February 24th, 2012. The Utility received the necessary approvals to being refilling in stateges of up to 2.5 feet per day with two 24 hour hold periods to allow for inspections during the process.
Residents and landowners on or near the reservoir are being notified to allow for any final clean-up or changes they would like to make before the refill is completed. Recreational users above and below the dam are also asked to be aware of changes in the volume and flow of water begining Monday March 26th.
Please contact Kent Fisher, Operation Superintendent, or Jerry Ewert, General Manager, at 715-284-9463 with any questions regarding the refill process.
